Our salt glazed pottery is made by introducing about 10 pounds of table salt in divided doses into the kiln at it's peak temperature (~2350 degrees farenheit). The salt is vaporized and the sodium attaches to the unglazed portion of the pot forming a clear glaze with orange peal like texture. The color of the clay may vary from white to chocolate brown due to the type of clay, pattern of the flame, and the amount of salt flowing through an area. You never know how it will turn out.
